With fall upon us, it’s a busy season for books, and a look at the GeekWire Calendar shows some great events coming up in Seattle featuring some newly-published authors.

First, I’m fortunate to be interviewing Alexis Ohanian — entrepreneur, investor, co-founder of Reddit, Y Combinator “ambassador” and All-Around Defender of the Free Internet — about his new book, Without Their Permission, on Monday night at Seattle’s Town Hall.

I’ve been engrossed by this book, and I can promise that the event will be an entertaining and possibly even inspiring conversation about startups, online communities, creativity and the future of the Internet.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Town Hall, and tickets are available here.

Another title getting a lot of buzz this week is “The Everything Store,” the upcoming book by journalist Brad Stone about Amazon and its founder, Jeff Bezos. Stone will be in Seattle talking about the book on Oct. 22, interviewed at Town Hall by Nick Wingfield of the New York Times. More information and tickets for Stone’s talk are available here.

Seattle’s inaugural Ecommerce Meetup will take place Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the SURF Incubator in Seattle, featuring speakers from the worlds of PPC, SEO, social media and more. Get more details and RSVP here.

If you prefer technical deep dives, be sure to check out the upcoming tech talk — “Javascript, on the SERVER!?!” — about Node.js featuring Bryce Baril, the founder of Ravenwall, at 7 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 15 at the Eastside Incubator in Redmond.

Meanwhile, on the comedy circuit, you won’t want to miss this special Halloween edition of Wine Shots, a monthly comedy show. The event this Sunday will be a spooktacular performance from Seattle’s only Michael Bolton cover band, Lightning Bolton! (GeekWire’s own Emily Shahan is one of the members of this band, so someone please snap some pics for us as blackmail.) Check out the promo video here.

And of course, don’t forget all the upcoming activities for Seattle Startup Week, including GeekWire Startup Day on Oct. 25. (Early bird rates end today.)

Events for this regular feature are chosen from the GeekWire Calendar. To submit an event to the calendar, go to the calendar page and look for the green button.
