After more than four months from its release in the Canadian App Store, PopCap’s Bookworm Heroes is now available globally for iOS devices.

The turn-based game is an adaptation of the original word-forming puzzle Bookworm series, but the updated version now comes with multiplayer features on Facebook.

The goal is to make the biggest words possible from a letter grid in the center of the screen. With the multiplayer aspect, the words turn into attacks against one another. And now, heroes — hence the new name — can jump in and help you gain more points.

The game is free to play and you can earn coins to help you purchase new heroes.

Seattle-based PopCap, also known for titles including Bejeweled, Zuma and Peggle, was acquired last year by Electronic Arts for up to $1.3 billion.
