Microsoft is testing a version of Windows Server for ARM processors, according to a Bloomberg News report this morning, citing unnamed people familiar with the company’s plans.

The move could loosen Intel’s grip on the computer server market. ARM’s power-efficient processors are best known for running smartphones and tablets. Microsoft’s Windows RT, a variant of the Windows 8, operating system runs on ARM processors already. Microsoft and ARM aren’t commenting on the report.
