
Sure, Matt Damon is fun to watch playing make-believe astronaut, but this new documentary series, Citizen Mars, is following five people who are actually in the running to live on the Red Planet.
The five candidates, from the U.S., India, Egypt, South Africa and Italy, share their stories about what it’s like to make the Mars 100.
Equally heartbreaking and fascinating is watching their families react to their decision to hopefully be a part of human history forever. The final team selected for the Mars One mission will never return to Earth.
Mars One, of course, is the mission to land humans on the Red Planet that is set to depart by 2026. You may remember that a Seattle-area man is in the running, Carl LeCompte, who we interviewed about making the Mars 100 in February.
Citizen Mars will premiere on Engadget for AOL Originals. A total of five episodes will air at citizen-mars.com on Sept. 1.
