
As the twelfth annual PAX Prime gaming convention kicks off its four-day takeover of downtown Seattle, you might be seeing some strange sights around town. Like a 20-foot tall monster snapping light poles and smashing a police car on Pike. It’s all part of the increasingly extravagant displays that companies are putting together to attract gamers at Seattle’s largest convention.
Here’s a peek inside the show, for those of you who weren’t able to snag tickets.
- Magic the Gathering monster on Pike – That bent light pole is identical to the real poles in the area.

- Fallout 4 animated robot
- Oculus (Facebook) had a particularly enormous booth, especially for a subsidiary that isn’t even selling its main product yet.
- Nintendo brought a pair of full-sized StarFox cockpits for people to sit in and play the upcoming StarFox Zero game for WIiU
- Nintendo’s main booth has a huge amount of space dedicated to Super Mario Maker
- This robot from Dishonored 2 is about 8 feet tall.

- Magic the Gathering is live-streaming competitive play from PAX
- Even Jenga is giant at PAX
- Amazon has a small booth just outside the Expo Hall, promoting their 1 and 2-hour Prime Now delivery service in the Seattle area.
- YouTube Gaming has a large booth, very close to the Twitch booth. Game streaming, Google vs. Amazon… FIGHT!
- Even Uber is getting in on the PAX action, driving around a custom car to promote the Mad Max video game.
