If you haven’t watched the NASA video of today’s landing from the International Space Station yet, you probably should.
Earlier today, astronauts Terry Virts (USA), Anton Shkaplerov (Russia) and Samantha Cristoforetti (Italy, ESA) landed in Kazakhstan. The group had just completed 199 days in space and traveled almost 84 million miles, according this blog post from NASA.
The mission marks several major milestones, one of the most notable is Cristoforetti‘s tenure in space. She now holds the record for the longest time spent in space by a woman, also setting a new record for any ESA astronaut, male or female, as the Washington Post reports here.
