
If you work for the New York Times and try to view the site on a desktop this week, you’ll be out of luck.
The Gray Lady announced via assistant masthead editor Clifford Levy’s Twitter account that it was going mobile-first at its headquarters this week, in what could be considered a pretty novel experiment.
As Levy’s tweet states below, the Times is conducting the experiment to drive home the importance of considering content for a mobile first audience. They say more than half their traffic is now coming from mobile devices.

We’re quite curious as to how this will turn out. I’m sure there are plenty of curse words being uttered by reporters at the Times headquarters today.
