Last week, we wrote about several Seattle-area companies being nominated for a Shorty Award, which celebrates excellent social media campaigns. The winners have been announced, with Starbucks and Expedia both snagging awards for their stellar campaigns in 2014.
Starbucks won best Tumblr for its Pumpkin Spice Latte campaign, which was worked on by Portland-based creative agency Swift. The campaign injected some personality into the beverage by creating a celeb-like persona, or the Real PSL, and encouraging fans to interact with it via Twitter and Tumblr, resulting in over 85,000 Twitter followers.
Starbucks also picked up the Shorty for the best Hospitality campaign for “Meet Me at Starbucks,” a short film covering customers’ experiences worldwide in a day that received about 91 million social media impressions and was worked on by L.A.-based agency 72andSunny. And Expedia won best on Instagram for its “Throw Back Thursdays” campaign, which became a viral sensation with over 5 million impressions. Congrats to everyone who worked on the campaigns!
