The Supreme Court handed down a landmark decision today, ruling that same-sex marriage is legal.
The Court ruled 5-4, with Justice Anthony Kennedy writing the majority opinion, that it is legal for same-sex couples to marry in all 50 states.
According to the New York Times, “The decision, the culmination of decades of litigation and activism, came against the backdrop of fast-moving changes in public opinion, with polls indicating that most Americans now approve of same-sex marriage.”
It is an amazing close to Pride Month and a decision that will be fully celebrated this weekend at Seattle Pride events.
Below, a collection of tweets from #LoveWins, #MarriageEquality and more in response to this landmark Supreme Court decision. (Hopefully, a federal law protecting LGBT workers’ rights is not far behind, as we explored yesterday in our “Out in Tech” article.)
