The death of David Bowie led to an outpouring of remembrances on social media on Monday as fans shared songs, videos, images and more to celebrate the rock ‘n’ roll icon’s life.
Bowie, who died two days after his 69th birthday, was a monumental figure in music whose inspiration left a profound mark on film, fashion and art as well. With that in mind, it was particularly delightful to see the renewed sharing of a GIF created by illustrator Helen Green.
The artwork, which Green created to celebrate Bowie’s birthday last year, features the musician’s hairstyles with 29 drawings over 50 years of his life, starting in 1964. Prints of the piece, called “Time May Change Me,” are available in color and black and white on Green’s Society6 page.
Last week, Green, 23, shared more work in time for Bowie’s birthday. She called one, featuring images of the “Spaceman” smiling broadly, her “most cheerful Bowie pattern to date.”

Another new GIF showed Bowie with stars moving around his head. His last album, “Blackstar,” was just released on Friday.

Early Monday, a tweet from Green, like many fans, revealed that she was taking the news of Bowie’s death quite hard.
