Good news for those that like penning “tweet-storms.”
Recode reported on Tuesday that Twitter may increase its 140-character limit to 10,000, allowing users to create much longer tweets. Sources tell Recode that Twitter is considering a design change — which could be implemented as soon as Q1 — that would let users expand these longer tweets with a button, perhaps, showing the initial 140 characters and keeping the look of timelines consistent with what exists today.

Twitter, which has seen its stock dip nearly 40 percent in the last year as user growth slows, did something similar this past August when it ditched its 140-character limit for direct messages.
