Microsoft was having major issues with Xbox One on Wednesday that appears to be related to Xbox Live and was causing users to be greeted by a black screen during the startup sequence.

The Xbox Support Twitter feed was working overtime with a series of posts about what was identified as “console startup, title update and sign-in errors.” The Xbox Live Status web page — which also seemed to be suffering some sort of glitch — also reported that Microsoft believed it had identified the issue causing some members to have trouble logging in.

Update: A new tweet from @XboxSupport just before 12:30 p.m. PT said that the problem had been resolved. And the Xbox Live Status page had everything checked as normal.

The seriousness of the issue — in which gamers thought they were dealing with a broken console — was certainly conveyed in more than one tweet.
