Washington’s Department of Commerce announced 46 recipients of grant dollars to support the development of climate technologies and clean energy installations at schools and other buildings around the state.

The $37 million of funding comes largely from the Climate Commitment Act, a program to limit carbon emissions. A statewide November ballot measure, Initiative 2117, would eliminate the act.

A few of the recipients include:

  • Oscilla Power, a Seattle company creating technology for generating power from the movement of ocean waves, $750,000.
  • Homeostasis Systems, a Tacoma startup developing carbon capture technology that will recycle the trapped carbon into industrial products, $700,000.
  • Seiksui Aerospace, a Renton company whose work includes creating novel thermoplastic solutions for storing batteries in electric vehicles, $500,000.
